serve
The commission of every Jesus-follower is to love as we've been loved: in the way that Jesus loves us. Jesus modeled this love when he kept company with outcasts, when fed the hungry, when he washed his disciples' feet--and ultimately when he offered his very life on the cross.
For Springfield First, service to others in Jesus' name is integral to what it means to belong to God. We're known by our fruits, but our fruits also make Jesus known.
Below are just some of the ways we serve others and demonstrate God's love.
Witness
Our Witness Team's priority is to keep our church present in the community, helping us to see our neighbors and make connections with those whom God sends us to love!
Blessing Box
Our Blessing Box is stocked with a variety of nonperishable food items (and occasionally small hygiene items) that are freely accessible to anyone in our community who might have need. People are welcome to take what they want--but are also welcome to leave what they can, in order to pay their blessings forward and assist others.
Community Breakfast
Every 3rd Saturday from 8am to 10am, we host a free breakfast open to everyone in our community. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet neighbors, to form relationships, to feed and be fed, and to share the goodness of God with those around us.
C.O.P.E.
We're actively involved with and support C.O.P.E. of Robertson County--an organization founded over 40 years ago by area churches which exists to help persons in the area who are in need.
Mission Trips
Our church regularly sends teams on mission trips, serving brothers and sisters in Christ near and far in various ways that communicate the love of God in Jesus. Often these trips involve our UMYF (youth group), who come alongside of adult volunteers to give their time and their efforts to bring relief and hope to people in need.
